try archery, or at least get the training tool that archers use when they cant shoot a bow. It strengthens the muscles between the shoulder blades, It looks like a bow handle and has two rubber tubes leading from it so you use it as a bow. When I did my back in earlier in the year it repaired very quickly and the physio suggested it was because my tummy and shoulder muscles were pretty good so supported my back well.
