| Narked At 10ish Went with a group and Terry from Amlych on Saturday - first dive was Harry Furlough's reef - supposed to be 40 -odd wrecks there, but crap viz meant we were completely oblivious to any, but nice dive nonetheless.
I always tell my self I will take back a big lobby or crab to impress my mum, but the nearest so far is nice pictures. ( I did actually catch and release two later as they werent as big as the one I couldnt get - which is typical of me. ) On this dive, I had just been struggling/wrestling with my arm stuck upto the shoulder in a hole - vet-style - trying to wrench a big critter out, but it was much stronger than I, and is still there, when Davey pointed to another.
I had a quick look and it was about as big as the palm of my hand. I though he had decided that was about my size and gave him a tiny, tiny gesture, but he kept pointing.
So, being extremelly short sighted, I stuck my nose practically in the hole and saw, believe it or not - a PINK eel/ snake, covered in big black spots.
By the time I had taken a good look, composed myself, switched on my camera, turned off the flash and returned, it had obviously decided I had taken too long and buggered off.
Back on the boat, no-one would believe me, as usual, but Davey has seen it and said it was a butterfish.
And now I have had chance to look it up on the net - it was.
SO YOU DOUBTING KERINS, ANTS AND LEOS AND THE REST, IT WAS THERE EXACTLY AS I SAID AND I NEARLY HAD A PHOTO TO PROVE IT.
Terry kindly suggested a coupe of shore dive sites on the North Anglesey coast, so a trip when the wind is in a southerly direction is high on my agenda - anyone interested ?
Bill....
