My problem is that his words lose much of their impact exactly
because of who said them. The statement in point - "It tells people that they can be pop stars, high court judges or brilliant TV presenters or even infinitely more competent heads of state without ever putting in the necessary work, effort or having natural ability."
One day Prince Charles will be King of England, quite a lofty position, but exactly how much "necessary work, effort or natural ability" has it required of him to attain this position? He can do exactly that which he is complaining about, he can sit back, do nothing and he will still achieve this great position.
