| Handsets Hi Padowan,
I clip both together and check both each time I look at them, this is why:
A couple of years back I was at the surface helping someone back onto a ladder in heavy seas and still on the loop, checked my master and it was dead, being I was at the surface and working hard I immediately manually injected O2, then checked my slave, it too was dead.
Both handsets had been inadvertently switched off in all the sodding about and as the slave had obviously gone off first there was no alarm when the master was turned off. 2 lessons.
You have 2 handsets, so you have 2 ways of monitoring your loop, I humbly suggest you use them both and second lesson don't wait to check your second handset if the first has failed, inject Dil at depth and always O2 on the surface. These should be motor reactions and practiced and thought through often.
I also keep both handsets clipped together in front of my face hooked over my thumb on ascent for obvious PPO2 reasons.
Just my ten pence worth.
Cheers
Dave Cooper
