As Dave asked "do you have the magic number"? I think you have to get this far.
Don't use a PC built in IR port as the VR3 reallys does not like the IR coms stack. They sell a thing that plugs into a serial port. You haven't got a serial port? That's a pity. It seems to work with USB to serial adapters but they're not cheap.
Finally don't even think of using even the 'proper' connector near flourescent lights. That has never worked for me.
I still pump the dives onto the PC in case I want their graphs but I gave up on using it as a log and spent money on something that does the job properly.
