Today while at work, I popped into Asda to get a sandwich and a diet coke, went to the basket only checkout, and there in front of me was a woman with a trolley filled to the brim, I decided not to say anything, to see what the checkout operator would say to her. After 15 mins of queueing, it was finally the womans turn to get served. The checkout op told her that this was a basket only till and that it was 10 items or less, she went on to say that she was doing shopping for all her family, and that they all had 10 items each for which she would be paying seperately. The checkout op was about to accept this explanation, and was about to start scanning her shopping. By this time I was fuming, and said to the woman that if she put her shopping onto the conveyer belt, then I would off load it as quick as she put it up. The checkout guy called a supervisor and the woman was moved away, and made to face about an hours queue. There were a lot of grateful people in the queue behind me. But we'll have to remember this excuse and try it out ourselves whenever there are long queues, and whenever we think that our time is more valuable than anyone elses.
