As already indicated box towards the boat works best, and care should be taken to clear the rubbing strake which can make life difficult. The unit is initially very heavy until all the water drains from the box and wing. If the surface support are lightweights I have a short lanyard attached to the unit handle with a large SS carabina clipped to the bottom D ring on the wing. Any problem I clip off to the boat, get onboard and do it myself.
