| Imported post <font color='#000080'>OK, back to the original, as you guys are all getting a bit up-tight. I tried te inverts with stages this weekend (using 7l allys) and it works fine. I clip the stage to my chest ring and then a D-ring on the side of my wing (or you could use a hip D-ring) and all you do is put your arm on top of the stage, and as you reach back for the valve the stage moves forward allowing you to do anything you could do without stages on.
All this bit about inverts being a bad idea so far is unfounded for me. I can't see why not. The only problem I can see is compatibility with other people's sets, as demonstrated at the weekend trying to use someone else's twins, but all you really need to do is have an adjustable valve guard and you're sorted. Mine unfortunately has been welded to make it stronger, and will fit my tanks and others at very similar spacings.
All you need to do is look at the inspiration. There's a system where you have to be able to reach your valves, and manipulate them easily. So where are these valves? Right behind your arse, where it' easy.
For anyone that's having major problems with shutdowns (I have recently as I messed my shoulder up at the end of last year) go inverted, and see if it helps. As Brett put it this weekend: "I didn't know whether it was worth asking you to do the drill to be honest, but I felt I should." It's that easy. |
