The smilies are actually image files so you need to know where there hosted from. Once you find the smilie you want to use on the internet somewhere you need to right click on the smilie or image and select properties. That will give you the url of the smilie. If you try it on the smilie below you'll see it will give you
http://www.rmandrews.co.uk/smilies/hitcomp.gif 
Once you have the url simply put it in your post surrounded by image tags. It should look like the line below but the brackets should be like these [ ] instead of these { }
{img}http://www.rmandrews.co.uk/smilies/hitcomp.gif{/img}
