I just noticed this and it raised a chuckle. I generally bash my valves and manifolds off wrecks, rocks and anywhere there is a hole and carry it by the manifold all the time and never had a single problem.
As long as you are using a decent manifold and have them rigidly mounted in good quality SS bands they are pretty much bombproof. It is when they are mounted in cheap bands or cam straps that the flexing causes problems. Probably the easist way of preventing maor problems is to make sure you fix any minor ones right away and don't let them develop into major ones
