We were having compressor problems in the sound of Mull about a year ago and ended up taking air (and tanks as ours were full of sh*tty oil) from Lochaline dive centre

After the only dive of the day we were moored up on the logging pier. Bored, we decided (with someones spare computer) to see how deep we could get it using a weight and several reels. We set it all up, a 2lb weight, 3 reels (figuring on hitting the 99.9m mark) and eagerly put it over the side expected to have to keep the reels running for a while.

The weight stopped at 13m - we were berthed along side a log ship so we were about 10m away from the quay - we knew about the overhang so next we wanged the weight and computer out a bit. Guess what - it bottomed out at 13m again!!

Fun for about 20 minutes and going to prove 130m is not 6 inches from the pier as frequently claimed!!
