Do it if possible.
But do a real subject that people want to buy.
You get a better choice of jobs, more money and you don't have to work so hard for it.

While I recognise that several people can carve out a place in the world on natural talent alone that isn't by any means going to happen to most people. It is said that Richard Branson didn't get A-levels but neither did the girl wiping the tables at Starbuks. I notice that the one person who made it to the top in IT in this thread may not have a degree but he seems to employ a lot of people who do.

I'm 55. Who employs 55 year olds? Unqualified 55 year olds? My brother and I run an instumentation company and I do most of the design work. It ain't millionaire stuff but it means that if I want to go to Finland wreck diving on a rebreather I can just go. If I'd stayed on my pre-degree job of driving a bus would that have happened? Who knows?
