Text message to absent friends.

Has anyone heard of UBOOT (as in www.uboot.com)?

Sending text messages to a friend who has just emigrated to Australia costs 12p or 24p (depends on message length) as opposed to 30p using my mobile company service (O2). You do need to pay up front - I've put £5 in 3 years ago and now only have 1p left.

Does anyone know of a cheaper method?

FYI, O2 have a text sending service available from their website. I would assume the other phone companies would offer the same sort of service which is, presumably, cheaper than sending it from your phone (once you have used up your prepaid option). Not to mention a lot easier to type. Unfortunately the O2 site is only UK to UK messaging (that I could see).

[EDIT]These services have a phone book for storing mobile numbers so it is quite useful for texting to groups eg POXY WEATHER, STAY IN BED! to the rest of the diving hopefuls.
