Hows this in colour, I prefer the B&W.

For what it is worth. I run a red correction, then use a high pass filter to create the effect. You can run an unsharp mask to get a more "grainy" effect as in the b&w version, but the bottom right just went smooth due to the lack of detail in the file.

Sadly you can make out the artifacts from the .jpg compression, but hopefully it will give you guy's something else to play with.

Oh yeh, just so you know, I do this for a living.
