Keith.
Cheers fro the PM , but as you have stuck the same sort of questions here, i'll try my best without disheartening you, and like so many that have asked me the same questions.
Perhaps here will benefit all.
I will answer from my experience and what i hear from divers that i have spoken to, during the last year from getting ticketed.
My opinions are mine, and some of others that have been in the trade for 30 years that i work alongside nearly every day of the week, some i have tried so hard to become members of YD, so they can pass over thier experience and tails, but some read from guest members and basically say " nah, it's full of wannabe know it all's, colledge boys " ,,, this is not the way i look at it.

I would personally get a job , where you can earn a bit of cash and get in some fun dives , without having a family debt. ( these can cause rows ).
It's ok going away for a 10 week course, but you will be in the same situ as now...... Not earning and looking for work.
There is no job you can walk into after a course.

A lot of wannabes do the course and think that there is lots of work out there, maybe and i mean a BIG MAYBE, that you may get some work on some grotty pipeline in shallow water off India or Africa earning £ 20 dollars a day with a bowl of sticky rice thrown in, and ya be treated like one of thier own. The drawbacks are that these companies do not apply HSE standards and ya be lucky if the company is insured. Not really the sort of charming dive job , when you have a wife to leave back in the UK and $ 140 doesn't help to pay back the family debt.

Companies still like you to have a few years under ya belt as a part one diver first.
