Hmm... whilst you make some valid points in your post Ian I think you are being a tad selective in your quote...

As I said, I dived in some stressful circumstances with two divers who use the system which is being discussed here (which I don't - so much for the allegation of unquestioning uniformity ) and set out quite plainly that that they coped - despite the advice that the arrangement may not be optimal.

Whether to bungy or not in a DIR set up is for the other forum. However, together with some reasons why the one handed operation could be seen to be beneficial I had hoped that my observations would be helpful in answering Mal's questions.
