I'm afraid I can't help much on the BSAC to PADI bits. I remember seeing something on this and it wasn't particularly handy - I think BSAC AI crossed over to PADI Assistant Instructor or something - you definitely had to do the full IDC, but I could well have got this bit wrong.

However BSAC changed this bit recently:
