Megalodon Divers One Year On

In 2004 the rest of our group (Delta Divers) decided to go CCR and subsequently were the first to order the Inspiration with Vision electronics. My partner, John and I had always considered the Megalodon rebreather as our first choice. Last year we made the committment to purchase two Megs and spent four weeks in Washington State USA at Innerspace Systems. During this time we built our Megs and completed the technician's course under the watchful eye of Leon Scamahorn and Steve Stolen. Following this we received the legendry 'Leon' training and returned exhausted and somewhat bruised qualified to CCR Normoxic Trimix.

The winter found us spending many cold hours quarry diving practising skills repeatedly building muscle memory accompanied by the ghost of Leon's voice.

The 2005 dive season started with a group of very experienced Open Circuit Trimix divers feeling a little like novices with their newly acquired kit. After a few dives in The Channel the winter's hard work everyone had put in payed off. The end of May saw John and myself diving the clear waters of the Med completing our CCR Trimix this time with Chris Hutchison.

From our early interests in the Megalodon both Chris Hutchison and Christina Campbell had always given us an intelligently informed opinion. Chris can be found at www.megalodontraining.co.uk A week spent diving the wrecks of St Tropez under Chris' guidance answered the many questions we now had. Chris is a very approachable and knowledgeable person, despite his own many commitments he is always more than willing to share his knowledge and is only a phone call or e-mail away which is one of the most reassuring qualities in our opinion an instructor can posses. We would highly recommend anyone considering going the Megalodon way to contact Chris.

The diving season now over on reflection, we feel as a group that we have surpassed our expectations regarding the rebreathers and are now planning for an adventurous 2006.

Many thanks again from John and myself to Leon, Steve and Chris.
