| Some advice I'm currently debating doing the HSE scuba course -- not because I'm planning to make a living out of it, but because it would keep the paperwork squared away, and it looks like a fairly solid bit of training. The fact that the course might pay for itself sometime over the next decade is a bonus. But that's not really the question.
Could someone tell me a little about the whole Diving Contractor malarky? I recall one of the diving journalists (I think it may have been John Bantin) writing about how he was required to both be an HSE qualified diver, and a registered Diving Contractor in order to do his job as a freelancer.
One of the scenarios that are on my mind is to do with amateur photography. Having looked into it, it would appear that as a sports diver, I could only legally sell any photos to the sport diving press (a special exemption). In order to sell elsewhere I would need to be an HSE diver. I may also need to be a Diving Contractor in order to effectively employ myself to to take the photos.
So, could someone tell me what I'm waffling about? |
