Could someone tell me a little about the whole Diving Contractor malarky? I recall one of the diving journalists (I think it may have been John Bantin) writing about how he was required to both be an HSE qualified diver, and a registered Diving Contractor in order to do his job as a freelancer.
One of the scenarios that are on my mind is to do with amateur photography. Having looked into it, it would appear that as a sports diver, I could only legally sell any photos to the sport diving press (a special exemption). In order to sell elsewhere I would need to be an HSE diver. I may also need to be a Diving Contractor in order to effectively employ myself to to take the photos.
So, could someone tell me what I'm waffling about? |
can i suggest that you read Mark Davis's post
http://www.yorkshire-divers.co.uk/fo...5&postcount=33 and then give that HSE Dive Inspector a ring . ask him to put in writing what you have asked and his reply..
Also have a PM chat with JB.......... because as a Media Diver you NEED TO BE HSE SCUBA at the very least.
To be a Diving contractor and accreditted member of the ADC , i would ask them .
