LEIGH BISHOP – ‘Lost Liners’ Diving the world’s most famous Ocean liners Deep & Shallow!
Leigh Bishop is regarded by many as Europe's foremost deep wreck photographer specialising in the exploration and documentation of famous deep wrecks. He will take the audience through a visual experience of some of the most significant sunken ocean liners on the seabed today. The presentation will focus on a 'then & now' theme, taking you on a virtual underwater tour of historically famous Ocean Liner shipwrecks. See the famous Lusitania on the seabed today, the gold ships 'Egypt' & Laurentic, Titanic and a comparison with her bigger sister Britannic! The largest sunken ocean liner in the world! The talk will also touch on sensitive wrecks such as that of the Nazi liner, Wilhelm Gustloff, lost with great loss of life in the icy Baltic Sea, as well as lesser known liners but just as important such as the Transylvania, Justicia and the Leopoldville. Original 35mm slides taken in depths deeper than 120m will be concluded with a short film of technical divers exploring famous ocean liners as well as a sneak preview of what’s to come.
MONTY HALLS – ‘The Great Ocean Adventure’ – the making of the series
Monty Halls is one of the country's leading explorers and marine biologists. He recently presented a series for Channel 5 based on one of his latest expeditions, ‘Swimming with Giants’. He will bring the adventure alive as they circled the earth in pursuit of whales, sharks, rays, dolphins and manatees in over five continents. Monty is one of the most respected diving explorers in the country. In 2002, he led a multi-national team of adventurers and scientists on an expedition to South East India to discover the ruins of a lost civilisation beneath the sea, establishing him as a new star of British exploration. He recently presented the series ‘Great Ocean Adventure’ for Channel 5. His first book 'Dive - a guide to the world's top 60 dive sites' has was published along with 'Totally Wrecked', a 90 minute film following the exploits of a team on one of his many breath-taking 'Full Circle' around-the-world diving expeditions.
