| 12 things... Not all 'things, but what is good about BRITAIN, not just the bit South of the border. Sorry the Scots half kicked in momentarily...
] Unarmed police. Scared yesterdays lunch out of me when I saw armed officers walking around London.
] Patriotism. In the 'Will defend my country and it's values', not the BNP and racist way.
] Freedom [ish] of speech. This appears to be going down hill rapidly. But at least this forum is still free.
] Single Malt Whisky. Oh yes.
] Cider. For getting Americans drunk. After all it is only made from apples, isn't it?
] Scapa Flow.
] Sheer bloody mindedness. From that chap who spent years sitting outside Parliament protesting to feats of endurance and thinking that we can still win the world cup [can of worms anyone?], we do try harder, even if we come second.
] Inventiveness. We have invented some good stuff in the past, and there will no doubt be more to come.
] Welcoming in foreign citizens. On the wane a bit now [see 2], but we used to and hopefully will be able to again.
] Sense of humour. You bloody well need it.
] The weather. After all what else would we talk about?
] British Divers. The bravest, barmiest and best in the world! |
