One possible explanation - seller was genuine punter, got scammed and divulged his ebay log-in, reported this to ebay who then pulled his account for safety.

Less panicy now?

Or plan b - seller was as crooked as a crooked thing, offloaded the proceeds of their latest ram raid on ebay but just made it to the post office to ship everything before the sweeney came and turned over his lock up. Boys in blue trace the gear to ebay and get the account locked to stop him offloading anything else and are now hot on the heels of all the dodgy gear he's shipped to reclaim it and return it to the rightful owner....
