Sorry, but I think that might be the point.  Speed humps are generally a pain in the arse and they do knacker your car and they do cost a lot of money - your money from your council tax.  There are many different methods of traffic calming and a discussion on which are the best is useful.

"Weigh all that stuff on the website against the one life a speed bump may save."

This type of argument really pisses me off.  We could save a lot more lives if we reduced all speed limits to 20mph.  Even more  if we cut it down to 10.  Actually, think how many lives would be saved if we banned all motor transport (that includes buses for those who don't drive!).
What we need are sensible measures that work in the real world.

Suggesting a spike in cars is just very very stupid.  If that were used, then my sister would be dead now through no fault of her own.  Grow up.
