My dealings with Suunto in the past are that I wish all firms had their level of customer service. They fixed my viper, gave it a new battery and sent it back to me free of charge. This was after it was recovered from the bottom of a house reef in the Red Sea after an accident which was my fault

My advice would be to be up-front with them but either way, I can't see them trying to stiff you over the repair.
