This is what I do to avoid an annoying boltsnap dangling around. O ring and double ender. Only really use it when, as you say, I switch to a stage or am driving indies. O ring tiewrapped (you could use string if you like) and you can see the double ender on the d ring. Long enough to breathe when clipped off too.
