Black is so cool.....

But... is it a practical colour for diving?

Now I know that it is very uncool for some to be seen in anything but black kit, however, as cool as it makes you look, could it be a bad idea?

I get laughed at for having shocking pink arms on my dry-suit, Bright blue fins, pink slap strap, and gloves with bright yellow fingers (apologies for the kaleidoscope but they'd all be pink if I had my way)

Anyway, it occurred to me the other day that black kit only looks 'cool' on the surface. I was diving on a 20m wreck but the viz was poor and light wasn't great. Anyway my buddy was signalling to me and I had no idea what he was trying to say.

Prior to this there had been a group of 4 diving, the instructor at the front with a newly qualified ocean diver and myself with my buddy (new ocean diver). Viz was so bad that literally the only thing we could see were the fins of the front buddy pair, thankfully they were very bright... this would have been a lot more difficult with a diver in all black (looking as tho they are off to deliver some milk tray to a lady who loves them).

Anyway, I was just wanting to get a general opinion on it, would you rather be loud and proud (and visible) or cool and slick (and blend in with the shadows)?
