Points to bear in mind

You'll still need to carry shedloads of bailout (unless you're happy with the safety margins of an alpinist (if you dont know what this is, read some more).

Theres questionable benefit over multi gas OC for deco (I'd argue theres none).

The only benefits I still personally beleive in are the warm moist gas (physiological benefit), the gas logistics (fills in remote places), the gas extension option (ie if you get lost, you dont have to panic) and the bubbleless silence (great for photographers, stalking stuff and just silence in general). All the others IMHO are being debunked.

The way I evaluate the tools, is to look at a failure at the end of the bottom phase of the dive, then workout what I need to add to mitigate this failure (procedures/kit etc). Thats then what I take on the dive.
