it would be interesting to know what "total loss" meant under the particular policy you had - and whether it differed becos this was when the kit was at home?

in the last 4 years, we've had two very big claims
the first was complete loss of holiday and the second was the entire loss of our kit plus 1 and a bit weeks of holiday

divemaster paid out on both occassions (there was a small excess in each case) and have still insured us for the last 2 years too
