Yeah - I had that same "land-legs" sensation after my liveaboard in Thailand a year or so ago.  Felt giddy and a little sick for quite a few hours straight after landing in Phuket.

I hadn't expected it, living in Guernsey & all and going on boats fairly often, although only then did it occur to me that five days was the longest I had ever spent on a boat without getting off (other than to go diving of course!).

The feelings of nausea were mixed with, and compounded by, a little dread as we realised that the USS Kittyhawk was docked (it may be a "small" US carrier, but you should see it close up - it can hardly be missed!) and about 3,000 US Sailors were ashore for the weekend raising merry ####!!  I'll wager that the local working girls had their work cut out that weekend.

Reminds me of a story that one of the bar owners told me about the Kittyhawk and its crew on a previous year's shore leave (its been going there for years apparently).  Over the course of the weekend, the thousands of sailors had been using the local "services" to the fullest extent possible and paying for them with &#3630 bills.  It seems that some cunning, devious crewmember(s) had spent a lot of time and effort forging these notes for the sole purpose of deceiving the working girl population of Phuket (I'm sure it must have been tried elsewhere!).  The woman told me that there were queues of expectant (hopefully not expecting) girls at the banks on the Monday trying to cash non-existant currency.  Poor lasses.

Alas the Kittyhawk had sailed ....
