Absolutely agree with Daz & Bob, this is narcosis and bollocks to what most people say, it can happen at any depth. 10 metres in a muddy puddle with 1m viz can make me feel a bit weird whereas 30m in gin clear waters is nothing.
Ironically, I never previously perceived any typical narcosis ie in the "classical"  30+ metre range until this year (having done over 200 dives), but this year I've been noticing it more and more. This is fine by me as once I can say to myself "ok, take extra care because you're feeling narked" I'm prepared.

I mentioned to my long term buddy (and lifelong pal) one day how I'd been pleasantly narked on a 22m max bimble at Abbs (anemone gully) to which his reply was "Huh! you're obviously particularly susceptible" again I say "bollocks", it's the same as blokes who have half a dozen pints and claim they're not affected so happily drive home from the pub

Anyway, don't fall into that fallacy of thinking yourself a bad buddy, I'd far rather dive with someone who can fess up and admit they're narked rather than the ones who live in denial - cue the egyptian jokes
