So, the rot starts. Iceland is going to resume commercial whaling, extending its whaling programme to include the fin whale (on the endangered Red list) in addition to the minke whales it already hunts under the "scientific" smokescreen.
They are also suggesting that they will export whalemeat - against international law - possibly to Japan.

The main issue is that they consider their hunting to be sustainable, but are acting unilaterally. If each country did this then, of course, you end up back in the same situation where the sum of all the individual "sustainable" catches is unsustainable. What is even sadder is that most of this is a political battle, not consumer demand.
