Trim and drag issues aside, it is possible to have too much lift.

If we go back to the recent discussions about wayward wing inflator units, I would rather have a wing that inflated to 40lb and then triggered the OPV, than one that kept on inflating to 100lb.

It's much more difficult to deal with a rapid 100lb of positive buoyancy than 40lbs of the same. Before this all kicks off, I'm not suggesting that dealing with 40lb is easy, but it's got to be easier than 100
