I think it depends on the shape of the wing. The only time I need all the lift is on the surface, but if half the lift is behind my head that doesn't help much in this position.

So, a wing with lots of the available lift lower down needs less capacity than one that has more cell behind the head to help with trimming out tanks, for example.

My 36-37lb wing was just a little on the low side in a chop. My Dive-Rite Classic, which is more like 50lb is fine, and not too flappy either, unlike the 55lb Explorers.
