I have been considering having some form of laser eye surgery done for some time. I have been short sighted all my life (AFAIK - which, I think, is why I have poor facial recognition). I have worn contact lenses for 35+ years.

Recently, my short sight started deteriorating, and I have tried bi focal contact lenses, normal contacts with 'magnifiers' for reading. The bi focals are the best compromise.

My optician (about same age - 49) will not have his eyes done because he considers the risk of problems greater than the effort of using contacts.

The owner of my local, and now defunct LDS, had laser surgery done a few years back and I know he was VERY happy with the results.

Deciding to have voluntary eye surgery is a VERY difficult decision to make.
