Get 2 stainless steel jubilee clips (local boat shop) some stage rings and a couple of small stainless shackles (local dive shop again!). Fix the jubilee clips round the battery with the stage rings then clip it using the shackles to your backplate - that's what I do anyway! Then you can route the cable over your shoulder.
