I'm not DIR, but you have to remember the valve drill is just a drill. It's not a simulation of what you would do in real life. If your backup reg started to freeflow then obviously you'd shut that one off first. Similarly if your primary reg fell off because it wasn't done up tight enough then you'd switch to backup whilst isolating your primary.
