Handy Hint: get some steel and cover the top of the bench with it. Makes it last much longer. And see if you can get an engineers vice too to bolt to it- very handy. If the whole of your workbench top is steel, you can also put anything on it and immediately start welding without haveing to connect the welding clamp directly to the workpiece. If you do any welding that is.

If you want a cheap strong bench then, and it pains me to say this, Ikea do some really cheap really strong ones. Ivar, I think they are called.
