That reminds me I must check the age of all my reg hoses

I have had two hoses, go bang in my diving career.

The first was, as a trainee, just kitting up with my nice shiny straight
out of the box Scubapro Mk4 reg (it was 1987).

I fitted it to a cylinder for the very first time, and turned on the air.
BANG !!!!!!! The hp hose split just on edge of the ferrule at the 1st stage.
As a trainee, it was an embarrasing moment, I thought I had done something wrong.

More recently (2005), I had just completed a 60m dive on OC with 2 stage cylinders for deco. Got back on the boat, and stowed everything, and heard
something go 'plop' rather than 'bang'. On inspection the reg on my 32% nitrox stage cylinder had failed on the hp hose just on the edge of the ferrule next to the first stage.

This one was my fault, when I checked the age of the hose
