And that is, when sorting out a tangled regulator hose it's always best if you go back to your back gas so you've got something to breathe off at 20 metres
What happened was that during the gas switch yesterday my decompression cylinders hose wrapped around itself when I switched regs - I could use it but it wasn't comfortable - so I took it out of my mouth to straighten the hose and then couldn't get it back in fast enough.
After trying to breathe with a mouthful of water and lots of coughing the rest of the ascent was quite normal really.
So remember kids, always breathe off something when trying to sort out problems in the water. Complacency came knocking and I answered.
