This was the result of a recent survey - I think done by satellite. It mapped out what was believed to be the complete river system in what is now the English Channel from a time long ago when there were a few more natural ice cubes about.
A friend of mine (used to be a very keen boat fisherman) reckons he knows where there is one off Beachy Head but the current rips through there and he reckons it would be too dangerous.
I wonder what danger there might be from currents passing over the top of any old waterfall. Down currents? Having been caught in one at Scapa Flow last year on a drift (we still call it the Zanussi dive) I have a very healthy respect for my lack of ability to make upwards progress when caught in something like that.
