Can just be a build up of ear wax. I had it on holiday last year. Had to have my ear syringed. Big lump came out the size of a peanut. It was marvellous. It was a bit sore and the doctor made me promise not to go diving for a couple of days, though obviously in my book that included the day I'd had it done as Day 1.

They gave me eardrops in case on infection, but didn't have any problems,
