Another good point to note is always fill your bottle SMB from a full cylinder and not a used one! I've twice launched my SMBi only to see it 1/3 fill and then float slowly in the water to the surface giving me no lift on it at all.

Another point (I learned last weekend in Porthoustock) is to make sure the Kent Tooling reel lock button is really locked down when you launch the SMBi or you tend to go with it!! I ditched my £80 SMBi and £100 KT reel for such a silly mistake. Luckily both retrieved at the surface afterwards. Won't be making that mistake again.
