Hi

I have used a McMahon (the big muver) for about 10 years, no problemo, great reel, big and simple (ahh bit like me)

I use it all the time as we as a club reel off from the shot as standard, so its a great distance line and very good for DSMB deployment if required (we usually come up the shot- its a shipping lanes kind of thing).

I have a small buddy thingy, the palm size one as back up with a DSMB. Its ok and i have used it as a distance line as well. But not a first choise by far. I also nearly had a rapid assent once when i got my thumb trapped between the reel handle and the line, scarey moment.

If you want a DSMB option try a delaydaid one, simple reel (like a McMahon) that you inflate the bag through the handle - very, very good. Top quality for mid-water deployment.

I used one of those Scubapro ones last year and i will be buying one for next season. I like it a lot.

Kent Toolings are good now he has ironed out the initial problems. He will be at LIDS and if you mention my name you may be able to get a deal, but his prices are damn good anyway. Check out his Pony brackets as well - very good.

I have to say that 'cos i'm his DO and he's giving me a free ticket into LIDS, and he knows i will not wear one of his T-Shirts to advertise for him

Dive Safe
