| Ah yes, i've lost stuff off the harness belt while getting out of the water too. Luckily mine was only a knife and in about 1m of water so managed to find it again the next morning.
Everything on there is blocked with weight retainers now, although be careful as that only works for webbing which is exactly the right size - several pockets and things i've had in the past had the webbing loop much bigger than required, so a weight retainer would slip through too.
