The point of DL is not to allow you dive deeper (progression to 50m), but to introduce more dive organisational skills. Planning dive trips, Rescue management, & supervising/leading more junior level divers.

I took a PSAI mCCR course which got me all of 0m increase in depth. As with Dive Leader, its about broadening your experience.

Thanks for that, like you say it introduces you to dive organisational skills. Planning dive trips, Rescue management, & supervising/leading more junior level divers.
Everything apart from the rescue management can be done by just going diving and gaining experience that way. I suppose its just because they have filled the course out with useless information that is putting me off.. For instance I dont know why there needs to be nearly two hours lectures on helicopter operations.... surely if your in that situation the RAF will tell you exactly what they want you to do... I am also led to believe that there are lectures about the coroner as well ??

It just seems they have made the course longer than it needs to be? Or it might be me being lazy

Thanks

Adam
