The helicopter guys are certainly more experienced, whatever service is involved. And yes, they will help guide you. However knowing what to expect can't hurt. Clearing some space, don't reach for the guy on the line, that kind of thing. Don't think it won't happen around you either, I've seen it twice so far. And it has got more common as the fear of reporting DCI has lessened. As you wish to go deeper, you should also think about the likelihood of a helicopter trip increasing for someone in any group.

As a DL, you stand a fair chance of being in charge of events, especially if the one person who happened to have more experience than you is the casualty. It's 2 hours of providing you with some information and tools to help you should you need to. Is that so bad? How would you feel if you didn't know what to do when you needed to?
