Contact Lens

Don't know whether this should be posted under this heading BUT....

I've dived with contacts for the last 10 years and have always made a conscious effort to make sure that my eyes were closed before flooding/removing my mask so as not to have to lens float away.

WELL, yesterday in the pool I tried for the first time opening my eyes underwater and guess what...... the lens stayed in place!! (I was encouraged to try this after talking to a fellow YDer on a trip I was on to IOM, he had contacts and reckoned that they don't float off).

I am impressed, so now, when I've tried this in fresh then saltwater I will be less concerned about my lens getting knocked off/dislodged whilst underwater.

I can't really think that the saltwater would do the lens any good but at least I'd be able to see once I'd replaced the mask.

Has anyone had any problems in this way with exposing their contacts to seawater?

Cheers

Lyvia
