1) My choice is refined to the Inspiration classic, KISS or rEVO as they are all godd value for money. Looking at the secondhand market, it is almost entirely Inspirations;
What are the important things to look out of when buying seconhand: most adverts are full of incomprehensible TLA's: ADV, BOV, DSV, WOB etc etc and bob howell head/ juergensen head's, presumably one needs a manual to understand them all. I.E. what deficiences in a rebreather cost the most to
2) Is it standard practice to deliver a second-hand unit to an instructor rather than the purchaser-novice and will AP valves allow this?
3)With the mCCR, do users maintain a constant setpoint throughout the dive or let in decline on ascent? Is it easier to switch to staged o2 than to flush the unit several times at the 6m last stop?
4) Does anyone have any experience of the rEVO II? I notice it has only 2 oxygen sensors, is this a bad thing? |
1. Ok, read a lot about CCRs here and on RebreatherWorld and the abbreviations should become easier to understand.
2. Some sellers require this, I guess it discharges their vicarious responsibility, in their opinion.
3. With mCCR, you choose your PPO2 and maintain it, manually, throughout the dive, ascent included.
4. The rEvo II has a minimum of 3 sensors shared between 2 rEvodreams, one which has 2 cells and the second 1 cell (or 2 if you run 4 like me). I am the only UK rEvo Instructor and IT. It is a great rebreather, if you want a look at one, come to the NEC diveshow and I will be showing mine on the Deep Blue Tech stand (together with a Boris, a KISS, a Meg, an Inspo and an Evolution!).
The rEvo is a great mCCR, I also own a Classic KISS, an Ouroboros, and a Megalodon so am able to give an unbiased opinion on different mCCR and eCCR.
If you have any other questions, post them here and I will reply as best I can.
Cheers,
Dave Cooper.
