| This is exactly how I use my interface. I have a prolific usb to serial adapter, which comes up as com6 when i plug it in. I still use SDM1.6 as I don't like v2+ but I have tried it and it works with version 2+.
Go into the SDM software and set the com port to the same port as the usb to serial adapter shows up as in device manager. My interface is home made following a circuit diagram from the internet but my buddy has the suunto interface and that works to.
Don't be surprised if the SDM software says it can't see the interface, mine says that, but when I put the vyper on the cable it will transfer.
It does however seem to depend on how good your usb to serial adapter is, the one i got was really cheap (about £4) but it seems to work with everything.
